Meeting Rudi Jäger & The German Alps Infiltration – The Old Blood Prologue Walkthrough
Wolfenstein: The Old Blood Prologue & Chapter 1: Prison Walkthrough 4K 60FPS
At the start of Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, players enter an alternate version of March 1946. In this world, the Nazis are winning World War II thanks to General Deathshead’s advanced technology. With the Allies close to defeat, the Office of Secret Actions (OSA) launches a last-ditch mission called “Operation: Wolfstone.” William “B.J.” Blazkowicz and his partner, Richard Wesley (Agent One), are sent into the German Alps to break into Castle Wolfenstein. Their goal is to steal a secret folder from Helga von Schabbs, head of the SS Paranormal Division. This folder holds the coordinates to Deathshead’s hidden base.
The “Prologue: German Alps,” also called Chapter 0, sets up the game’s high stakes and dark mood for the first half, known as “Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves.” B.J. and Wesley use disguises as Nazi SS officers from Frankfurt to sneak through guarded mountain passes. This opening builds tension as they try to get past tighter security the closer they get to the castle. The prologue shifts from a spy thriller to fast-paced action, introducing the personal and political struggles that shape the rest of the story.

Navigating the Mountain Pass and the Checkpoint Encounter
The mission starts with a tense car ride through the German Alps. B.J. Blazkowicz and Richard Wesley, dressed in stolen SS uniforms, go over their cover stories and try to stay calm to avoid being caught by guards. Wesley drives and handles the technical parts of the mission, reminding B.J. how important their goal is. The risk of being discovered is high, since any mistake could get them killed by the Nazi forces in the area. This part of the game also gives players background on Helga von Schabbs and why the folder is so important.
At a key security checkpoint, B.J. and Wesley face their first big challenge: Rudi Jäger, Helga von Schabbs’s ruthless second-in-command. This part is a “social stealth” moment, with Wesley warning B.J. not to speak because his German accent is bad. When Jäger checks their documents, he mixes friendliness with threats and asks B.J. about being from Frankfurt. B.J. jokes, “Ya, I am a hot dog,” which makes Jäger laugh and lets them pass. Still, the meeting shows how dangerous Jäger is for the agents.

The Cable Car Ascent and Castle Wolfenstein Infiltration
After getting through the checkpoint, the agents reach the tram station for the last part of their trip to the fortress. They take a large cable car that gives them a clear view of Castle Wolfenstein on the mountain. This part of the game shows how huge and isolated the Nazi base is. When they arrive, B.J. and Wesley decide to split up to find Helga’s office faster. B.J. explores the lower levels of the Research Centre, while Wesley works on securing their escape and helping from a distance.
Inside the Research Centre, players get to experience the main gameplay of stealth and action. B.J. sneaks through hallways with patrolling soldiers and advanced equipment, using the surroundings to stay out of sight as he heads to the upper floors. The cold, industrial look of the SS Paranormal Division is very different from the Alps outside. B.J. eventually finds Wesley near Helga’s office. The tension is highest as they get ready to open the safe that should hold the coordinates to Deathshead’s compound.

The Missing Folder and the Radio Contact with Kessler
When B.J. and Wesley finally open Helga von Schabbs’s safe, they find it empty. The secret folder with the coordinates is already gone, so their main mission at the castle has failed. They have to quickly change their plan. Wesley tells B.J. to find a radio and contact their local ally, Ludwig Kessler, who is a spy in the nearby village of Paderborn. Now, the mission moves from the castle to the surrounding area as they try to find out where the folder went.
B.J. sends a message to Kessler, who says Helga probably took the folder to the village. But the Nazis intercept the radio call, and the agents’ cover is blown. Security forces are alerted, and the mission quickly turns from stealth to a fight for survival. B.J. has to battle waves of Nazi soldiers so Wesley can look for another way out. This shift from a spy story to intense action signals the end of their secret mission.

The Ambush and the Fall of the OSA Agents
As the SS forces close in, Wesley drops a ladder for B.J., leading him to a ventilation shaft. They hope the ducts will help them escape the Research Centre and avoid the enemy. But their escape leads straight into a trap. When they come out of the shaft, they are surrounded by Rudi Jäger, his huge cybernetic dog Greta, and a heavily armored Supersoldat. The trap is set perfectly, and the agents have no way to fight back or get away.
The prologue ends on a grim note, setting up the next chapter. B.J. Blazkowicz is beaten and knocked out by the Nazis, and Wesley is also captured. Both agents lose their disguises and gear and are taken prisoner by Jäger’s men. This leads into the first main chapter, “Chapter 1: Prison.” The mission finishes with B.J. and Wesley at their lowest point, having failed and now trapped in Castle Wolfenstein’s dungeon under Rudi Jäger’s watch.
