Richter Boss Fight & Restoring the Communications – The Beacon – Titanfall 2 Walkthrough & Story Breakdown
In the sixth mission of Titanfall 2 The Beacon, Jack Cooper and BT-7274 take on one of their toughest challenges. After learning about the Fold Weapon in the last mission, they head to a huge IMC Interstellar Beacon facility. Their main goal is to contact the Militia fleet and share the intel from Major Anderson’s helmet. This chapter is a key moment in the story, showing how Cooper and his Titan work better together as they deal with dangerous environments and strong IMC opposition.
Securing the Facility and Meeting Captain Cole
After Cooper and BT defeat the Stalkers and save the Militia forces, they find out the beacon is completely down. Captain Cole says the facility has no power and the uplink module is damaged. The 3rd Militia Grenadiers have been barely holding on, and Cooper and BT’s arrival helps secure the area. But to move forward, Cooper has to leave BT and go into places where the Titan can’t fit to fix the facility.
This part of the mission shows how important and complicated the beacon is. The survivors point out that without it, the Militia fleet won’t know about the IMC’s plans, putting the frontier at risk. Talking with Captain Cole also reminds us that Cooper and BT are just one part of a bigger fight. Once the area is safe, the mission shifts to finding the tools needed to fix the facility, starting with restoring power.
The Search for the Arc Tool in the Substation
To get the power back on, Jack Cooper has to go alone into the facility’s substation. The halls are too tight for BT-7274, so Cooper uses his jump kit and agility to get through. This part of the mission is full of tricky platforming, with electrified floors and defense systems to avoid. Players need to move carefully to dodge deadly shocks and find a way to restart the facility.
Deep in the substation, Cooper finds a Marvin robot doing maintenance. The Marvin is holding the Arc Tool, which can turn on electrical switches and turbines from a distance. When Cooper takes the tool, the Marvin looks sad, which many players remember as a touching moment. With the Arc Tool, Cooper can restart the fusion reactor and fight his way back to the surface through IMC security forces.
High-Altitude Repairs and the Leap of Faith
With the power back on, Cooper and BT see that the Uplink Module is too damaged to fix. BT figures out that there’s a replacement in a nearby construction area, but getting there means crossing huge, high-up platforms. This part includes the famous “Fastball” moment, where BT throws Cooper across a big gap to reach the maintenance area. It’s a great example of the trust and teamwork between them.
After landing on the other side, Cooper has to get past moving cranes and high scaffolding to find the replacement module. The area is dangerous, with IMC snipers and Reapers trying to knock him off as he climbs to the top of the satellite dish. The beacon’s size is clear as Cooper goes higher. While under fire from IMC dropships, he replaces the broken module and lines up the dish so the Militia can finally get the signal.
Richter Boss Fight: The Showdown with the Apex Predator
As Cooper heads down from the satellite dish to meet BT, Richter from the Apex Predators shows up. Richter is a ruthless hunter, known for his German accent and for taking “trophies” from pilots he defeats. He fights in a custom Tone Titan, which uses powerful tracking rockets and strong shields. This boss fight is the mission’s climax, testing everything players have learned about Titan combat.
The fight with Richter is intense and challenges players to manage shields and positioning. BT and Cooper have to work together to break through the Tone’s defenses and dodge Richter’s tracking attacks. Richter’s lines during the fight show how ruthless he is, making his defeat feel rewarding. After destroying his Titan, Cooper and BT can finally focus on sending the important data to the Militia fleet.
Mission Conclusion: Contacting Sarah Briggs
With Richter beaten and the beacon working, Cooper can finally send the data from Major Anderson’s helmet. This information proves the IMC’s Fold Weapon exists and reveals their plans. Commander Sarah Briggs of the Militia SRS gets the message and understands how serious things are. This moment completes Cooper’s main goal from the start of the campaign, as he reconnects with Militia command after the crash on Typhon.
The mission ends with the Militia fleet warping to Cooper and BT’s location. Getting the message through sets up the final attack on the IMC. As the fleet arrives, it’s clear how important the mission was—without fixing the beacon and beating Richter, the Militia would have been unprepared. Cooper and BT are ready for what comes next, their partnership stronger after everything they’ve faced.
