Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut Chapter 5: An Honest Living

Chapter 5: An Honest Living – Kiryu’s Transition to Tachibana Real Estate and the Real Estate Royale

Chapter 5: An Honest Living marks a major turning point in Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut. Kazuma Kiryu leaves the Dojima Family—a risky move—and steps into Kamurocho real estate. After leaving the yakuza, he joins Tachibana Real Estate. The story highlights Tetsu Tachibana’s power, as he uses police connections to buy Kiryu time and help him find the real suspect in the ‘Empty Lot’ murder.
A key part of this chapter is how Kiryu changes both in appearance and in his new role. With Akira Nishikiyama’s help, he goes to Nakamichi Alley and puts on his famous white suit, showing he is now a civilian. Building on this, the Director’s Cut adds a special cutscene that gives more insight into Kiryu and Nishiki’s friendship. Kiryu’s new life is soon tested by Jun Oda at Café Alps, where he has to learn business manners, like where to sit and how to handle clients, during a meeting with Yamanoi, who is linked to Shintaro Kazama.

Following Kiryu’s transition, the story brings in the ‘Five Billionaires,’ a group of powerful business rivals led by the Leisure King. This development moves the focus from yakuza politics to the bigger fight for control during the Bubble Era. By helping Yamanoi deal with these tough ‘squatters,’ Kiryu starts the ‘Real Estate Royale’ story, building his own business to challenge the tycoons’ hold on Kamurocho.

As the chapter concludes, the action shifts to a big boss fight at Serena, where Kiryu faces Okabe and the Kijin Clan, who work for Hiroki Awano. Even with the Dojima Lieutenants pushing against him, Kiryu’s win over Okabe shows he is breaking away from the yakuza. Chapter 5 sets up Kiryu as a strong, independent character who combines his fighting skills with new business smarts for the rest of the series.
