Chapter 11: A Murky Riverbed – Majima, Nishitani, and the Nikkyo Consortium Revelation
Chapter 11: A Murky Riverbed is a turning point in Yakuza 0. After the Warehouse incident, Goro Majima desperately searches for Makoto Makimura. He is tortured by Tsukasa Sagawa, who orders Majima to sneak into police cells for information from the unpredictable Homare Nishitani. Majima heads to the Third Namiki Building and teams up with Billiken, a detective who links the Omi Alliance to the police.
Most of the chapter unfolds in the Bed of Styx, a secret fighting arena under the riverbed. To meet Nishitani, Majima must prove himself by defeating three opponents: Ginger Chapman, who uses a knife; Doctor Kirihito, who fights with claws; and arena champion Dead Puncher. While Majima fights, Billiken reveals key details about Nishitani’s past and his idea of ‘frontier justice,’ highlighting the complex connection between the detective and the Omi officer.
When Majima finally confronts Homare Nishitani, he discovers Makoto’s kidnappers are the Nikkyo Consortium, a secret Tojo Clan group led by Masaru Sera. Nishitani urges Majima to visit Camellia Grove, a luxury brothel in the Benten Inn, before challenging him to a fierce, dagger-based fight.
The chapter ends with Akutsu, a corrupt Omi Alliance officer, turning on everyone. In a dramatic moment, Nishitani is shot while protecting Majima, allowing his escape. After Nishitani’s death, Majima brings Sagawa the Nikkyo Consortium’s location, preparing for a risky mission to rescue Makoto Makimura.
