Chapter 11: Honor and Humanity – The Search for Kazama and the Siege of Shangri-La
After losing Shinji Tanaka and Reina in Chapter 11: Honor and Humanity, Kiryu turns his attention to finding his mentor, Shintaro Kazama. With help from the Florist of Sai, he arranges a proper burial for his friends. Then, he heads into Kamurocho’s underworld to look for Akemi, who is both Shinji’s girlfriend and an important informant. This search shapes the chapter and shows the complicated social and criminal networks Kiryu faces.
To find Akemi at the exclusive Shangri-La soapland, Kiryu has to complete several tasks that involve illegal immigration and forgery. He teams up with Shinmei and Ayaka, which leads to a fight at Public Park 3 against Zhou and the Snake Flower Triad. These events highlight the tension between rival criminal groups and end with Kiryu getting the membership credentials he needs from Mizuno at the MEB.
In the Kiwami remake, the story adds a scene at the docks where Goro Majima and Kiryu team up for the first time. Together, they fight the last members of the Dojima Family. The scene ends with a twist when Majima takes a sniper’s bullet meant for Kiryu and falls into the ocean, which temporarily stops the “Majima Everywhere” system. This moment shows their complicated relationship and adds to the theme of honor.
The story reaches its peak at Shangri-La, where Akemi shares important details about the larger plot. She explains that Kazama is being protected at the Shibaura Docks by Terada from the Omi Alliance. She also confirms that Chairman Sera’s Will exists, which names the Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan and is what Akira Nishikiyama is after. Suddenly, a bandaged Goro Majima returns, interrupts the infiltration, and starts a chaotic boss fight using both the “Mad Dog of Shimano” and “Thug” styles as the building falls apart.
The chapter ends with Detective Date giving Kiryu an update. He warns Kiryu about the rising power of the corrupt politician Kyohei Jingu. As police pressure grows, Kiryu prepares to go to the Shibaura Docks for a final meeting with Kazama and to settle the Tojo Clan succession crisis.
