Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures: The Last Resort

Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures: The Last Resort – West Wallaby Water World

In “Episode 2: The Last Resort” from “Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures,” Wallace and Gromit’s plans for a relaxing seaside holiday in Blackpool are ruined by heavy rain and a flooded cellar. Always looking for a new idea, Wallace decides to turn the problem into a business. Rather than going to the beach, he transforms their flooded basement at 62 West Wallaby Street into an indoor resort called “West Wallaby Water World.”

Ocean Notion (The Setup)

The story starts when Wallace sees that the bad weather has ruined their vacation. After finding the flooded cellar, he decides to open a resort instead. Before they can welcome guests to “West Wallaby Water World,” Wallace and Gromit need to find three items around town to create the perfect beach experience.
First, Wallace gets sand from Mr. Paneer by helping him build a “Tower of Groceries” in his shop. Next, they pick up a spotlight from the town center to mimic sunlight in the basement. Finally, they need an umbrella, which means dealing with a disagreement between Felicity Flitt and the local bully, Duncan McBiscuit. After collecting all three items, the resort is ready, and Wallace opens it to paying guests.

The Guest House Mutiny (Customer Service)

When the resort opens, guests like Major Crum, Felicity Flitt, Mr. Paneer, and Edwina Gabberley arrive at 62 West Wallaby Street. Things soon get out of hand. Duncan McBiscuit bullies the other guests, and Felicity’s puppies, Pudgie-Woo and Tinkie-Wee, create even more chaos in the house.

Wallace has to calm the guests and stop them from asking for refunds. He cheers up Edwina Gabberley, listens to Mr. Paneer’s complaints, and helps Major Crum relive a wartime memory by building sandcastles and using a toy soldier. The situation comes to a head when Wallace confronts Duncan McBiscuit, who is later found unconscious in the cellar.

Hounds of Horror (The Mystery)

After Duncan is found, the story turns into a playful murder mystery. Duncan has been “bonked on the noggin” and now has temporary amnesia. Constable Dibbins comes to investigate. To solve the case, Wallace uses his new invention, the Deduct-O-Matic, which asks the player to figure out three key parts of the “attack.”

First, the player must figure out what the weapon was, which turns out to be something heavy like a mallet or a trophy. Next, they look for the motive, which is linked to Duncan’s bad behavior toward the other guests. Then, they need to find the witness, with Gromit helping by sniffing out clues. The Deduct-O-Matic shows the “attacker” was not a guest, but Felicity’s puppies, who knocked Duncan out while fighting over a toy.

Down the Drain (The Climax)

The house’s plumbing breaks down, and water quickly fills the cellar. Things get dangerous when a loose circuit breaker electrifies the water. Wallace and Gromit have to cross the flooded basement on a makeshift raft, all while avoiding the “extremely volatile” rocket gas stored nearby.

As the story reaches its climax, Gromit steps up and saves the day by reaching the circuit breaker and turning off the power, which stops the house from being destroyed. After their close call, the guests leave. Even though the resort doesn’t make any money, Wallace feels content. Despite all the trouble, he’s glad they got to have their own special “seaside” holiday.
