Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures: Full Story Recap & Review

Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures: Full Story Recap & Review

Few animated adventure games match the British charm and claymation style of Telltale Games’ take on Aardman’s famous duo. Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures is a four-part series for PC and consoles that lets players join the cheese-loving inventor and his loyal dog in interactive stories.

Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees – A Sticky Situation

The adventure begins with Episode 1: Fright of the Bumblebees. Wallace starts his new honey business, but things quickly get out of hand. As always, his efforts to fill a big order lead to wild experiments and plenty of chaos.

The game starts with a tutorial called Breakfast Wrangler. Players see daily life at 62 West Wallaby Street as Gromit handles the morning routine and makes breakfast for Wallace. But this isn’t just normal cooking; it involves dealing with all the quirky inventions and gadgets Wallace has built. This first act highlights how Wallace gets his ideas, while Gromit keeps things running smoothly.

Wallace needs to deliver 50 gallons of honey. To speed things up, he uses a mysterious “Growth Formula” on his flowers. This part focuses on solving puzzles to make nature work faster, but messing with nature soon causes trouble. Players run the honey business until things start to go wrong.

The Growth Formula works fast, and the bees grow huge and invade the town. Gromit must handle the giant bees in the Town Square, the Basement, and the Front Yard. Players use the environment to fight off the swarms in each spot. The episode ends where the giant Queen Bee leads the swarm. Wallace and Gromit use a special van to chase her to put an end to the honey chaos.

Episode 2: The Last Resort – Murder and Mysteries

Episode 2: The Last Resort moves away from science experiments and into a lighthearted murder mystery. When bad weather ruins their holiday, Wallace creates a vacation spot at home by turning the basement into “West Wallaby Waterworld,” a homemade beach resort. Players solve puzzles to turn everyday items into fun resort features, making the most of a rainy day.

New guests show up, and Gromit has to deal with their complaints and sort out problems among them in the busy basement beach.

The story takes a turn when a guest is knocked out in the dark. Gromit uses the “Deduct-o-matic” to look for clues and solve the mystery.

Once the culprit is caught, Wallace and Gromit have to clean up the mess, including a real flood from their basement beach. As always, their holiday ends in chaos.

Episode 3: Muzzled! – The Charity Conspiracy

A new villain named Monty Muzzle shows up, and the story now focuses on saving local dogs.

The episode starts when three stray dogs get into the cellar and break Wallace’s “Infiniflavour machine.” Players have to manage the dogs and assess their damage, setting the stage for the episode’s focus on them.

Wallace and Gromit visit the town fair. There, they meet Monty Muzzle, who says he’s raising money for a dog shelter. Players need to investigate and look beyond the fairground distractions to discover what Monty is really up to, since his charity isn’t what it seems.

After uncovering what Monty was up to, he tries to escape in a hot air balloon. Wallace and Gromit must stop him.

Episode 4: The Bogey Man – Golf, Ghosts, and Marriage

Trouble begins when Wallace proposes to his neighbor, Miss Flitt by mistake. In a panic, he tries to join the “Prickly Thicket” country club, hoping it will help him avoid the wedding.

After joining the club, Wallace and Gromit discover there’s a dispute over who owns it. Wallace must explore the club’s history to find the missing deed and learn more about the town’s past.

To prove himself and win the deed, Wallace enters a major golf tournament.

Old security systems protect the country club, and players face a challenging final puzzle that involves moving townspeople across a grid to turn off the traps. Solving this puzzle saves both the town and Wallace.

A Worthy Adventure

Even with some technical issues and a gentler difficulty, Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures is a faithful interactive version of the classic series. From the honey chaos in Fright of the Bumblebees to the old traps in The Bogey Man, the game captures the humor, heart, and style of Aardman Animations. Fans will find these four episodes a fun journey through British invention and mishap.
