Our Fallout 4 walkthrough continues with a bang as we stumble upon the massive wreckage of Skylanes Flight 1981 right out of the gate. Seeing scavengers and enemies fighting amongst the scattered luggage, I decided to take a tactical approach, sneaking around the perimeter to quietly loot everything of value before the victors could claim it.

The stealth approach didn’t last forever, as a hostile Mr. Gutsy robot spotted me, forcing a fierce firefight to completely clear the crash site of any threats. With my pockets full of salvage, I continued my trek toward Tenpines Bluff, an isolated farm where the settlers desperately needed the Minutemen’s help dealing with a local raider gang.

Infiltrating the Corvega Assembly Plant in Lexington

The settlers at Tenpines Bluff pointed me toward Lexington, specifically the towering, heavily fortified Corvega Assembly Plant, which is notoriously one of the first major dungeon clears in any Fallout 4 gameplay.

Navigating the ruined streets of Lexington is dangerous enough, but infiltrating the assembly plant requires methodical pacing to clear out the massive raider encampment inside and out. After taking down the raider leader, Jared, and thoroughly looting the facility for essential crafting components, I returned victorious to Tenpines Bluff. Grateful for the protection, the settlers officially pledged their allegiance to our cause, securing our first real expansion of the Minutemen faction.

  • Lore Fact: Before the Great War, the Corvega Assembly Plant manufactured the Chryslus Corvega, an iconic nuclear-powered automobile that boasted an atomic V8 engine and was a shining symbol of American retro-futuristic engineering.

Mama Murphy’s The Sight and Exploring Jalbert Brothers Disposal

After securing Tenpines Bluff, I fast-traveled back to our main settlement in Sanctuary to regroup with Preston Garvey and the original crew. While there, I checked in with Mama Murphy, handing over some requested chems to induce “The Sight,” a mysterious psychic ability she possesses that provides us with cryptic but incredibly useful visions regarding our quest to find Shaun.

Preston didn’t waste any time, immediately handing me another settlement distress call to investigate further south. Hitting the road again, I stumbled upon Jalbert Brothers Disposal, a radioactive junkyard swarming with aggressive mole rats that I had to exterminate before I could safely scavenge the highly valuable scrap left behind.

Answering the Call to Arms at Cambridge Police Station

Continuing down the road toward my next objective, my Pip-Boy suddenly picked up a distress signal on Military Frequency AF95, automatically triggering the “Fire Support” quest. Following the coordinates led me straight into the heart of Cambridge, where I had to battle my way through roaming packs of feral ghouls and raiders just to reach the destination.

Arriving at the Cambridge Police Station, I found a heavily armed recon squad from the Brotherhood of Steel desperately holding off an overwhelming swarm of feral ghouls. Jumping into the fray, I helped them secure the courtyard and finally introduced myself to their stoic leader, Paladin Danse.

  • Lore Fact: The Brotherhood of Steel traces its origins back to Captain Roger Maxson, a U.S. military officer who mutinied right before the Great War after discovering the horrific FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus) human experiments being conducted at the Mariposa Military Base.

Following Paladin Danse into ArcJet Systems

Impressed by my combat skills, Paladin Danse asks for backup on a critical Brotherhood mission, initiating the “Call to Arms” quest that takes us deep into ArcJet Systems. Following a man in full T-60 Power Armor makes the journey much safer, but the tension spikes the moment we enter the abandoned aerospace facility and encounter the Institute’s robotic soldiers, the Synths, for the very first time.

Fighting side-by-side with Danse, we blast our way through the facility’s lower levels, utilizing the incredible environment to survive a massive synth ambush inside the engine core testing room. Our primary goal is recovering the Deep Range Transmitter, a crucial piece of pre-war technology the Brotherhood needs to restore their communications network.

Completing Call to Arms and Earning Brotherhood Trust

With the Deep Range Transmitter safely secured from the Synth control room, we take the facility’s elevator back to the surface and step out into the Commonwealth air. Speaking with Paladin Danse outside ArcJet Systems concludes the “Call to Arms” mission and effectively wraps up this action-packed episode of our Fallout 4 playthrough.

As a reward for our bravery, Danse completely changes his tune, officially sponsoring our entry into the Brotherhood of Steel and gifting us his signature laser rifle, Righteous Authority. Securing this powerful weapon and gaining a massive new faction ally sets us up perfectly for the dangerous challenges waiting in our next episode!

  • Lore Fact: Synths are synthetic humans created by the secretive Institute, ranging from the skeletal, robotic Generation 1 and 2 models seen at ArcJet, to the indistinguishable, flesh-and-blood Generation 3 models that have caused widespread paranoia across the Commonwealth.
