Answering the call of the Brotherhood of Steel marks a massive turning point in our playthrough. Arriving at the heavily reinforced Cambridge Police Station, we regrouped with Paladin Danse to officially accept our initiation into their military ranks. With the Commonwealth skies now dominated by their arrival, it was time to leave the ground behind, upgrade our firepower, and bring absolute devastation to the super mutant forces occupying the Boston ruins.

A Cinematic Flight to The Prydwen
Following Danse to the station’s rooftop, we boarded a Vertibird transport for a breathtaking flight across the Commonwealth. Seeing the ruined Boston skyline in pristine 4K 60FPS as we approached the massive, armored airship was an unforgettable, immersive experience. We docked safely at the Boston Airport and stepped onto the flight deck of the Prydwen, officially beginning our “Shadow of Steel” questline.

Meeting the Brotherhood Command
Making our way to the command deck, we were formally introduced to the ship’s stern commander, Lancer-Captain Kells, and the supreme leader of the Brotherhood, Elder Maxson. Maxson delivered a fanatic, militaristic speech regarding the Institute threat before promoting us to the rank of Knight. We then took a tour of the ship to meet the rest of the crew, culminating in a visit to the armory where we were granted our very own suit of Brotherhood T-60 Power Armor.
Lore Fact: The Prydwen is a colossal airship acting as the nerve center and main supply base for the Brotherhood’s East Coast division, providing a massive tactical advantage by constantly streaming intel to field units.

Show No Mercy at Fort Strong
Elder Maxson didn’t waste any time putting our new rank to the test, immediately deploying us on the “Show No Mercy” operation to violently secure Fort Strong. We suited up, boarded another Vertibird, and took to the skies, manning the mounted minigun. As we approached the coastal fortress, a towering Super Mutant Behemoth emerged. We unleashed hundreds of heavy rounds from the air, tearing the behemoth apart before the pilot even touched down.

Securing the Fort Strong Armory
Landing on the island, we pushed aggressively into the heavily fortified military complex, wiping out the super mutant patrols defending the exterior. Breaching the interior, the close-quarters gunplay was intense as we methodically cleared every hallway and elevator down to the sublevel. After exterminating the mutant leader and securing the massive cache of pre-war explosives inside the armory, we reported our absolute success directly back to Elder Maxson.
Lore Fact: Fort Strong was a critical military base before the Great War, which eventually became completely overrun by super mutants until the Brotherhood targeted its armory for their own operations.

Abernathy Farm and the Missing Locket
With our Brotherhood duties temporarily fulfilled, we shifted gears to a ground recon assignment to assist the local Commonwealth settlers. We marched to Abernathy Farm and spoke with Blake Abernathy, who tragically explained that a gang of raiders had murdered his daughter, Mary, and stolen her heirloom locket. We immediately accepted the rescue mission, vowing to retrieve the locket and exact revenge on the gang responsible.
Clearing USAF Satellite Station Olivia
Blake directed us to USAF Satellite Station Olivia, a heavily guarded radar installation. We pushed past the exterior defenses, fighting off raiders and suicide mole rats to breach the underground bunker. Inside, we navigated laser tripwires and chaotic rooms, eventually executing the raider boss, Ack-Ack, who was armed with a deadly minigun. We successfully secured Mary’s locket from a locked toolbox and returned it to Blake, earning the family’s trust and securing the farm for the Minutemen.
